چکیده

Image compositing combines visual elements from multiple images aiming to produce natural-looking results. Poisson-imageediting methods can generate seamless compositions, but introduces color changes in the inserted elements, which often generate unrealistic and unpleasing results. Recently, Henz et al. have presented an approach for controlling the amount of color changes in the inserted image patches [1]. We improve their work by using new sets of color basis vectors tailored to maximize color separation on transition zones, and by independently controlling the amount of adjustment on individual color channels. With our technique, artists have greater control over the final composites color, besides significantly enhancing their freedom to achieve effects that were unreachable by previous methods. We performed two user studies to evaluate the perceptual effectiveness of the proposed technique. The studies show that our method provides the flexibility to produce even more natural and pleasing composites than previous seamless-cloning techniques.

Application of a Seamless and Restriction Endonuclease-free Cloning Method to Produce Recombinant Full-length N-terminal His-tagged Streptolysin O in E.coli

Background and Aims: DNA cloning, sub-cloning and site directed mutagenesis are the most common strategies in nearly all projects of recombinant protein production. The classical method of restriction site cloning is unsatisfactory due to the need for supply of restriction enzymes and the inefficiency of the digestion reaction. Many new methods, including recombinatorial cloning and ligation in...

Evidences for a new cation channel in the brain mitochondrial inner membrane

Introduction: Previous studies and our works have indicated several cation channels in the rat brain mitochondrial inner membrane. In this work, we report the single-channel characterization of a cation channel from the rat brain mitochondrial inner membrane incorporated into a planar lipid bilayer. Methods: After removing and homogenizing the adult rat brain, its supernatant was centrifuged...

Poisson Image Analogy: Texture-Aware Seamless Cloning

Synthesizing two images with seamless boundaries, i.e. seamless image cloning, is important and has many useful applications in CG. Previous approaches do not produce realistic results if texture details of the two images are different. We propose a novel texture-aware seamless cloning framework based on separately processing the details and base image colors. The proposed framework provides re...

Comparison of Geometric and Probabilistic Shaping with Application to ATSC 3.0

In this work, geometric shaping (GS) and probabilistic shaping (PS) for the AWGN channel is reviewed. Both approaches are investigated in terms of symbol-metric decoding (SMD) and bit-metric decoding (BMD). For GS, an optimization algorithm based on differential evolution is formulated. Achievable rate analysis reveals that GS suffers from a 0.4 dB performance degradation compared to PS when BM...

Evidences on the existence of a new potassium channel in the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) of rat hepatocytes

Introduction: we have recently reported the presence of two potassium currents with 598 and 368 pS conductance in the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) membrane. The 598 pS channel was voltage dependent and ATP sensitive. However, the 368 pS channel was rarely observed and its identity remained obscure. Since cationic channels in intracellular organelles such as mitochondria and RER play imp...
